What are we going to be doing at Bunkfest? Well…

We have a fabulous team of tutors to lead you through the festival and a great programme of workshops specifically for young people. Please come along to learn lots of new folky stuff, meet new people, and generally have a laugh!

The workshops are held during the daytime on Saturday & Sunday (although you can join in on any day or just try one day to see what it’s like) and last for just over an hour. The tutors are an assortment of talented, interesting, enthusiastic young people – you may spot some of them performing or joining in sessions elsewhere around the festival.

You too could have the opportunity to perform at the festival – in Sunday’s Showcase on the Main Stage, which promises to be excellent. If you fancy being part of the band or a caller for this event then come along to the workshops.

We have two types of workshops available – Taster workshops, in everything from music to dance to theatre – for 8-12 year olds and longer workshops for 13-19 year olds. Both run both days, with a showcase on Sunday.

Taster workshops for 8-12 Year Olds

09.30-10.15 Marvellous Morris Dance – come and get moving!
10.30-11.15 Beginners Whistle – whistles provided
15.00-15.45 Easy Band – open to everyone
16.00-16.45 Theatre Workshop – lots of fun for everyone!

Workshops for Teenagers

11.30-13.00 Band Workshop – open to players of all instruments
13.15-14.45 Ceilidh Dance and Calling – learn to dance or call
14.00-15.30 Theatre workshop – bring your enthusiasm, a little bit of imagination, and any willing mates!
16.00-17.30 Shooting Roots Song – gorgeous songs, lush harmonies, and new techniques!
